Frequently Asked Questions
What is laser removal?
Laser hair removal is a non-invasive cosmetic procedure that uses a concentrated light beam (laser) to target and destroy hair follicles, reducing or eliminating hair growth over time.
How does it work?
The laser emits light absorbed by the pigment (melanin) in the hair. The light energy converts to heat, damaging the hair follicle and inhibiting future hair growth without damaging the surrounding tissue.
Is it permanent?
Laser hair removal can significantly reduce hair growth. While it’s not guaranteed to remove 100% of hair permanently, many people experience long lasting results. Maintenance sessions are usually needed.
What areas can be treated?
Almost any part of the body can be treated, including face, legs, underarms, and bikini area. Areas which grow thicker, coarser, and darker hair are typically more successful. Laser hair removal does not work on blonde, red, gray, or very fine (vellus) hairs.
Is it safe?
Yes. When performed by trained and licensed professionals using FDA approved equipment, laser hair removal is very safe. Our Candela GentleMax ProPlus is considered to be the gold standard in laser technology. Always make sure to follow all of our pre and post care instructions.
Does it hurt?
It is most commonly described as a light snap or flick (like a rubber band) against the skin. Discomfort varies depending on the treatment area and individual sensitivity.
How many sessions will I need?
Hair grows in cycles, and the laser is only targeting active follicles (anagen phase). Most clients will need 6-12+ treatments 4-6 weeks apart. Individual results may vary based on hair type, genetics, and hormones.
Do you accept insurance?
Laser babes is not currently accepting insurance. Certain insurance providers may provide reimbursement if you provide your invoice for your services.
